The MOWOOT system delivers Intermittent Colonic Exoperistalsis (ICE), a device-based therapy designed to support bowel movement through external mechanical stimulation. The company’s work is guided by clinical need, physiological understanding, and long-term usability in real-world care settings.

Developed through clinical collaboration
MOWOOT originated from interdisciplinary collaboration between clinicians, engineers, and researchers with experience in rehabilitation medicine and medical device development.
Early development was carried out in close collaboration with Institut Guttmann, a leading European centre for neurorehabilitation, ensuring that the therapy concept and system design were grounded in clinical practice from the outset. This collaboration helped shape a solution focused on physiological relevance, patient usability, and integration into established care pathways.
In parallel, the development of the MOWOOT system followed a structured medical‑device design process focused on identifying and validating real unmet clinical needs. This work included extensive interviews and focus groups with patients and healthcare professionals conducted even before the development of the first prototypes.
This approach ensured that the therapy concept and system design were closely aligned with patient and clinician needs, as well as with practical implementation requirements encountered in everyday care. This patient‑ and clinician‑centred mindset remains an integral part of how MOWOOT develops, evaluates, and refines its solutions as the company continues to grow.
