A non‑invasive, device‑based solution for bowel management.

FAQ

The information below is intended to provide general guidance on the use of the MOWOOT system.

It does not replace the Instructions for Use (IFU) provided with the device. For full safety information, including indications, contraindications, and warnings, please refer to the IFU or consult your healthcare professional.

MOWOOT supports bowel movement through non-invasive mechanical stimulation (Intermittent Colonic Exoperistalsis).

This gentle, sequential external stimulation is designed to:

  • Support natural intestinal movement
  • Promote bowel transit
  • Improve stool consistency
  • Reduce abdominal bloating
  • Contribute to a more predictable bowel routine

MOWOOT does not act directly on the anal sphincters. In cases where sphincter function is affected, additional measures may still be required.

MOWOOT may be considered for people living with chronic constipation, particularly when conservative measures alone do not provide sufficient relief or when a noninvasive option is preferred.

Suitability depends on individual circumstances, including underlying conditions and overall bowel management needs.

A healthcare professional can help determine whether MOWOOT is appropriate for you.

MOWOOT is intended for daily use, and its effects develop gradually.

Users may notice over time:

  • Reduced bloating or gas
  • Increased bowel movement frequency
  • Softer stool consistency
  • Reduced time needed for evacuation

Responses vary between individuals.

The time to observe effects varies by individual.

Some users notice initial changes within days, while for others it may take longer. Consistent daily use is important to support gradual improvement over time.

MOWOOT is intended for regular use.

At the start, one or two daily sessions may be recommended depending on individual needs. Over time, usage may be adjusted to once daily.

Your healthcare professional can help guide the most appropriate routine.

Using MOWOOT at a consistent time each day is recommended to support a regular bowel routine.

Sessions can be performed at any convenient time, provided you are relaxed and able to complete the session comfortably.

MOWOOT sessions are best performed in a relaxed, laidback or lying position.

Relaxing the abdominal muscles helps ensure that the gentle pressure is delivered effectively to stimulate the large intestine (colon).

Yes. It is recommended to wear MOWOOT over light clothing.

Wearing the belt over clothing helps ensure comfort and proper use during daily sessions. Although the belt materials are designed to be skinfriendly, direct contact with the skin is not recommended.

To ensure effective treatment:

  • Wear the belt over comfortable, soft clothing
  • Avoid placing hard materials (such as zippers, buttons, or belt buckles) between the belts active elements and your body
  • Make sure the belt fits snugly but comfortably

It is generally preferable to use MOWOOT with an empty or not recently full stomach.

No. MOWOOT uses pneumatic technology to generate controlled, sequential pressure.
There is no electrical stimulation or any electrical components involved in the therapeutic action of the belt.

The system is designed to deliver controlled pressure within predefined ranges.

Integrated monitoring ensures that pressure remains within safe limits during use.

Most users can use MOWOOT independently after initial instruction.

MOWOOT is available in four sizes.

The correct belt size is based on abdominal circumference:

  • Small (S) size: between 65 – 85 cm
  • Medium (M) size: between 80 – 100 cm
  • Large (L) size: between 95 – 115 cm
  • Extra large (XL) size: between 110 – 130 cm

Measurements should be taken at the level of the navel in the position where the system will be used (sitting or lying down).

Correct belt fit and positioning help ensure that the therapy is delivered as intended.

Belt size and closure:

  • Each belt size covers a range of measurements.
  • If the logo is not perfectly centred, or part of the Velcro is visible, this does not necessarily mean the size is incorrect.
  • As long as:
    • the belt can be closed securely, and
    • there is sufficient Velcro contact to maintain a snug but comfortable fit, the selected size is appropriate.

Belt positioning:

The belt should be positioned correctly on the abdomen:

  • The coloured seam on the thicker front section should be centred (typically aligned with the navel)
  • The belt should sit below the ribs and above the hips
  • This positioning helps align the active elements with the anatomical course of the colon.

MOWOOT should not be used in certain medical conditions.

MOWOOT may be used in a range of constipation situations, including chronic, refractory or neurogenic bowel conditions, depending on individual circumstances.

However:

  • It does not replace treatment of underlying conditions
  • It does not directly address sphincter dysfunction

A healthcare professional can help determine whether MOWOOT is appropriate in your case.

MOWOOT can be integrated into existing bowel management routines.

It does not exclude the use of other measures if additional support is needed. The overall approach should be guided by a healthcare professional.
